1. Use airbrake!

Dont try to be a guru at first time. I want to tell you that only 2% of players passes the first turn. But those who able to learn before enabling uber afterburner, rocket booster and full throttle can reach the second turn (but will crash anyway!).
Try to feel the car, it is physically correct. When you understand this you could be a cool pilot and it would possible to you to pass the tracks at very high speed without crashes!

6. The ramps
This is your problem, I know. Uncontrolled turning just after take off could be caused by high speed and unaligned take-off.
Try to align the car to follow speed vector and ramp jump vector. If you have a non-zero beta angle (angle between speed vector and car axis vector, it could be non-zero when drifting or turning) you will get an uncontrolled turning when airborn. This is physically correct, watch the stunts on youtube where some crazy people are trying to jump at long distance on their cars.
You have an ability to control the roll axis in-air. Try to align before landing. Dont jump at high speed, you will die 99%.

1. Use rocket boosters on turns.
This is simple trick if you feeling that you are not fit into this turn and will smash your face into the nearest rock. Try to enable rocket boosters immediately. By this action you will add a huge thrust directed to the outside of the turn.

2. Switch off autopilot to do some stunts.
To do dangerous but the amazing stunts press «DisarmASC», «Handbrake» and turn left or right.
After the full turn release all buttons and try to stabilize the car.
You can do multiple turns. Simply try.

Поэтому в этой статье я собрал свою коллекцию «велосипедов», и рассказал, как от них можно избавиться.

Методы массивов

Простой пример — допустим, у вас имеется массив объектов класса User. У них есть свойство activated, которое выставляется на 1, если юзер активировал свою учетную запись. Вам нужно проверить, все ли юзеры из массива активированы. Не берем во внимание ActiveRecord (там можно и по-другому сделать), моя цель — показать работу с массивами.

Однако все хорошее уже придумано за нас, достаточно лишь прочитать документацию. У массивов есть замечательный метод all?, который проверяет, все ли элементы удовлетворяют условию. К слову, еще есть метод any?, возвращающий true если хотя бы один элемент соответствует условию.

Сount — самый функциональный. Можно задать параметры в скобках:

Size или length (для массивов они идентичны) — самый быстрый способ, потому что единственное его назначение — просто подсчитать количество всех элементов.

Частоиспользуемые запросы ActiveRecord

Он просто ищет все машины красного цвета. Обращаться к нему просто — Car.only_red. Но самый главный недостаток — если вам захочется все это еще и отсортировать (или добавить что-то типа: limit => 5), то придется или дорабатывать метод в модели, или использовать стандартный find.

На помощь приходит очень удобный и простой в использовании named_scope.

Теперь Car.red.with_users создаст сами-знаете-какой запрос. Удобно? Несомненно.

Link_to и его друзья

Еще несколько интересных аналогов есть у самой обычной ссылки link_to.

Первая это link_to_if, которая выведет ссылку, только если она совпадает с условием. Если не совпадает — ссылки не будет, вместо нее останется лишь текст.
Например, у нас есть ссылка «Поднять карму». Если юзер уже голосовал, она не должна быть доступна. Некоторые делают для этой цели отдельный стиль, и отображают ссылку как обычный текст. Но можно написать:

Еще одна проблема, с которой я когда-то столкнулся — это валидация и ошибки. Приложение мое было на русском языке (конечно же), и по умолчанию ошибки выдавались в таком формате: «Title не может быть пустым».

В первую очередь нужно установить гем Russian, я очень надеюсь что вы про него уже знаете. Это позволит локализовать большинство стандартных сообщений.
Затем в папке config/locales надо открыть (или создать, если нет) файл ru.yml. Вот пример из моего файла:

Как вы видите, чтобы локализовать поле title в таблице news, достаточно добавить вышеприведенную запись в файл локализации.

Поле full_messages используется для полных сообщений об ошибках. Вот как они прописываются в модели:

Параметр message берет файл локализации, идет по адресу activerecord.errors.full_messages, затем по указанному в модели, и возвращает локализованную строку. Все достаточно просто. Если не указывать message, то на выводе будет стандартная фраза об ошибке, но в моем случае я заменил ее своей.

Методы для контроллера

К слову, не стоит расписывать ошибку как можно подробнее — основная валидация должна проходить в модели. Тут же мы проверяем параметры, и ругаемся если что-то не так.

Отладка

К слову, можно использовать не только logger.debug, но и logger.info, logger.warn или даже logger.fatal. В собственных классах можно писать RAILS_DEFAULT_LOGGER.debug, потому что на фразу logger.debug он откликаться не будет.

Если надо посмотреть или изменить состояние переменных, то можно воспользоваться дебаггером. Для этого помещаем запись debugger, например:

Сначала переходим к irb, а затем смотрим наши переменные. Кроме просмотра, их можно поменять и уже потом пускать их в приложение.

You will find tips and tricks for each series in the game

Find out how to quickly unlock all drivers and auto parts

Good to know

Serie 1

At the start of the game, you don’t have the choice to use your two original pilots and your starter parts

Your goal will be to target drivers who have a good management to them fuel and tires. For example Norris, Perez, Grosjean or at least Kvyat

Bottas and Giovinazzi are to be saved for later because Bottas is an epic card and Giovinazzi obtains 100% tire management only at level 9

Generally soft tires are better than hard tires

It’s important to ride on the green the first laps to save your fuel (and tires) and continue driving on the red with your two drivers on the last 2 laps (or the last 3 depending of your fuel)

Even if your pilots get stuck from time to time in the pit it doesn’t matter

Try to space your drivers by boosting the first one on the red >>> and leave your second driver on the green to change tires

To minimize the risk of stacking, you can alternate the stops between your pilots

For example: stops on turn 3-3-2 with Albon and stops 2-3-3 with Stroll

Serie 2

Equip Kvyat as soon as you unlock it because it is faster on the last laps

Avoid series 3 because the strategy is different

Get all the flags from series 2 and go to series 4

As for your formula 1, essentially increase aerodynamics and speed

Series 4 is much more difficult because your cars cannot run 3 laps on softs due to the high temperature.

If you’re stuck, the best thing to do is to collect Race 2 race points and unlock Norris.

Once you have equipped Norris and Kvyat, you will only have to collect the flags of series 4 and move on to series 5.

Because of the frequent rains on this series, it is interesting to favor strong pilots in wet weather.

Perez has very good rain capacity and better tire management than Norris. In addition, he is the best driver for the Suzuka circuit.

Shanghai and Melbourne follow the same strategy as series 5, unless you use Perez who can only run 2 laps at a faster pace.

The alternative is to use Bottas from level 4 and Perez. At level 4, Bottas benefits from a great regularity.

Marina Bay: use strategy 4-3. The first 3 laps on green and the last 3 laps on red.

The choice of parts in series 7 is more about grip. You will need to balance your stats because grip is much more useful than before. Good speed, good grip and good aerodynamics.

On the other hand, if you can’t see the top of Lincoln’s head when you put the penny between the tire treads, you’re good to go.

12. Don’t install mismatched tires

Admit it, you’ve probably thought about fixing mismatched tires on your car, or maybe it was your subconscious mind. The problem with installing mismatched tires is that it can upset the handling of your car and even trigger a spin out. In fact, a misfit tire can cause the other tires to wear out at an unusual alarming high rate and force you to buy a new set of tires a few weeks later.

13. Check your spare tire

Just because you’re certain there is a spare tire in your trunk, doesn’t mean it will be useful when push comes to shove. Do you check its air pressure once in a while? Have you confirmed it won’t mismatch when you install it? The last thing you want is wasting money on a tow truck because you forgot the check the condition of your spare tire.

Well, it’s not rocket science, just check the coolant level occasionally. If you didn’t get the memo, the coolant plays a crucial role in regulating the engine temperature. Also, check out for any symptoms of a coolant leak.

16. Schedule a regular tune up

A tune up might be necessary when your car power slows down or it becomes sluggish. Typically, it involves replacing or cleaning the air filter, PCV valves, spark plugs, fuel injection system, throttle body, fuel filter, distributor system, and ignition wires. What needs to be changed or replaced depends on the type of car that you drive. Additionally, the tune-up maintenance is usually scheduled after hitting 60,000 to 90,000 miles.

17. Check the timing belt

The timing belt is one of the most important parts of an engine; it works by coordinating the movement of the valves and pistons. Moreover, a damaged timing belt can completely destroy your engine burning a hole in your pocket. Then again, checking the timing belt will only take a few minutes and save you a lot of trouble in the future. Watch out for the red flags of a bad timing belt such as ticking engine noise, misfiring engine or oil leakage.

Otherwise, you should replace the timing belt as recommended in the owner’s manual; mostly, the change interval is from 60,000 to 105,000 miles.

18. Change the air filter at regular intervals

The air filter helps to circulate air in your engine to improve power and performance. Other than that, it stops debris and dust from accumulating in your engine. Hence, changing your air filter regularly especially if you drive on dusty roads can prevent a choked up engine. Of course, you should confirm with your car manufacturer how often you should change the air filter but just for the record, it can be replaced after 15,000 to 20,000 miles.

19. Replace worn out drive belts

Just like the timing belts, a drive belt malfunction can paralyze your engine. The most common sign of a faulty drive belt is a squeaky noise coming out of the engine. If it does happen, consult a technician immediately. However, you can avoid a worst-case scenario by checking the drive belts whenever you’re servicing your vehicle and replacing it if you notice any signs of wearing out.

20. Change the Spark Plugs and Wires

The spark plugs of your car assist to improve engine performance and avert those cold-starting and misfiring problems. Most owners’ manual advice replacing the spark plugs after 30,000 miles. Don’t worry; it won’t cost you a lot of time and money. Needless to say, when you change spark plugs, you should also change the wires to match up the electrical current of the new plugs.

21. Replace the Fuel Filter

9 Tips and Tricks for Qlik Sense

I wanted to share with you 9 tips and tricks you can implement in your Qlik Sense applications.
The goal is to show you tips that can make your job easier and to highlight features that are not intuitive to find.

Here is the list of tips and tricks that we will discover:

1- Different selections in two Qlik Sense sheets opened in the same browser

I received a message on LinkedIn and was reminded of Qlik Sense’s option that is not used very much. The option is the IDENTITY parameter.

Qlik Sense has several APIs, and one of them is ‘Single Integration API.’ The Single Integration API provides parameters that can be used to create an URL that returns a complete HTML page containing, for example, an embedded Qlik Sense visualization.

Imagine you want to make different selections using the same Qlik Sense sheet (two different analysis scenarios)
You open the sheet in two different tabs. Problem! By default, the selections for sheet 1 are the same as for sheet 2

To avoid this, you can use identity parameter like this:

Now the selections in sheet 1 do not impact sheet 2 and vice versa.

2- Bookmark a sheet with selections

In some cases, users often view the same sheet with the same filters. Example: a salesperson who goes to see his sales results from the day before every morning. To access this information, the classic path would be:

The easiest way would be to create a bookmark in the browser (not a Qlik Sense bookmark). Then every day, access the sheet with one click.

4- Find a field in the Data model

When you create a complex Qlik Sense application with many tables and fields, it is necessary to have a clear and optimized data model. Sometimes you want to locate a particular field in the model and, even if possible, see a preview of the data it contains.

This is easily done in the “Data Model” interface. At the top right, you can see a magnifying glass button. Click on it and enter the name of the field you are looking for. Qlik Sense displays the number 1 next to the table that contains it. By selecting it, you also have the possibility to preview its values and several other information.

5- Obtain the name of the column in a Drill-down dimension

For those who have worked with QlikView before, you may be familiar with the GetCurrentField ( group_name ) function. This function is used to display the name of the current field in a drill-down dimension.

In Qlik Sense, this function does not exist. To know the name of the current dimension, you would have to calculate it yourself. Here is an expression for a Hierarchical dimension containing 3 fields: Country, Region, City.

Depending on the number of fields your drill-down dimension contains, create nested if/else respecting the order of the dimensions.

6- Add a description to a chart

One of the best practices when creating a Qlik Sense application is to add a description to charts and tables to understand how the result was achieved and give a clear and detailed definition of the indicator.

For example, if you calculate the following indicator: Number of active customers. It is interesting to describe the notion of the active customer to avoid ambiguity.

In Qlik Sense, the easiest way to add a description to an object is to turn it into a Master Item and then add a description in the settings of the Master Item.

Once added, you will see an icon appear in the form of an “i” that displays the object’s description.

Here’s how to do it:

7- Create hidden filters

In Qlik Sense, filters are often added to allow users to filter their data easily. However, for agronomic reasons, you cannot put many filters on one sheet.

If you want to allow users to access other filters without going through the “Selections” window, which contains all the fields (where the user may be lost), you can use this trick to hide and display additional filters.

8- Scramble your sensitive data in Qlik Sense

Sometimes, you want to send a Qlik Sense app outside of your organization, and you don’t want others to access the information in the app.

In QlikView, there is a feature that allows you to choose which fields to scramble, and QlikView transforms the values of these fields into text and numbers, which are random.

Unfortunately, data scrambling is not available as a feature in Qlik Sense at this time.

9- Customize a Qlik Sense object with CSS

This tip is for the smartest developer. As you know, Qlik Sense is a full web tool, which says web means HTML / CSS. If you want to customize a Qlik Sense object and don’t have the necessary functionality in the object’s settings, you can embed CSS code in your sheet and change the style of the object.

To achieve this, you would have to go through the “Multi KPI” object in the built-in extensions of Qlik Sense. This object contains a text box where you can enter your CSS code.

That said, for starters, there are preventative ways to avoid losing health: Abilities to temporarily increase armor, grant a temporary pool of extra HP, or even evade or absorb damage altogether.
