«RAPIDFire» — новая многоцелевая система ПВО от компании «Thales»
11 июня 2012 г. на парижской выставке «Eurosatory» компания «Thales» представила новую многоцелевую систему противовоздушной обороны «RAPIDFire». Об этом рассказывается на англоязычном сайте компании.
Система «RAPIDFire» была также разработана для стрельбы ракетами ближнего радиуса действия из системы ПВО «STARStreak» — со скоростью, втрое превышающей скорость звука, и дальностью полёта приблизительно семь километров. Комбинация шести ракет «STARStreak» и последнего поколения 40-миллиметровых телескопических снарядов гарантирует и точность попаданий, и высокую огневую мощь. Оптоэлектронные датчики интегрированы непосредственно в башню: таким образом гарантируется, что «RAPIDFire», если это необходимо, способна работать автономно. При использовании различных типов снарядов «RAPIDFire» может также применяться против наземных целей, в т. ч. бронированных платформ, для обеспечения самозащиты системы.
Выступая на «Eurosatory» в Париже, Алекс Крессуэлл, старший вице-президент подразделения наземной обороны, сказал: «Я очень волнуюсь, демонстрируя это новое изделие на «Eurosatory». «RAPIDFire», совмещая подвижность с быстротой и точностью при во время боевых действий, гарантирует идеальный ответ для защиты войск в движении. «RAPIDFire» будет ключевым элементом в нашем усовершенствованном пакете решений для противовоздушной обороны на много лет вперёд».

В необитаемой башне монтируется орудие, боекомплект и оптикоэлектронные датчики системы целеуказания. Эта система может определить цель типа «истребитель» на дальности 30 км, вертолет на половине этой дальности.
Система получает информацию о цели и параметры перехвата от обзорного радиолокатора CONTROL Master 60 и модуля команды и управления CONTROL View, разработанных компанией Thales. Эта система может одновременно управлять шестью установками Rapid Fire. Чтобы перейти в режим стрельбы, автомобиль Rapid Fire останавливается и устанавливает канал связи с CONTROL View, которое обычно занимает около одной минуты. Согласно Thales, пушка может начать стрельбу в течение 4,5 секунды после обнаружения радаром цели.
